LTI integration: MeasureUp vs Moodle

Setting up LTI 1.1 and 1.3 integration between MeasureUp and Moodle

This post outlines how to set up the LTI integration between MeasureUp and your Moodle.

LTI 1.1 integration

1) Access to your Moodle with your Admin credentials.
2) Access to the course where you want to use the LTI service.
3) Click on the Turn editing on
4) In the section you wish to add your external tool, click on the + Add an activity or resource
5) Select External tool (or a preconfigured tool) and click on Add.

Note. This will take you to the settings page titled Adding a new external tool. All settings may expand by clicking the Expand all link top right.

6) Fill all mandatory fields:

GENERAL SETTINGS: (Click on Show more to see all options).

  • Activity name. Type the title you wish the students to see on the course page
  • Preconfigured tool. This is how Moodle communicates with the tool provider. If in doubt, leave as default.
  • Secure launch URL. Type the copied Launch URL from Pedagoo.
  • Launch container. Select how to want to see the external tool (embed, new window…).
  • Consumer key. Type the copied Consumer key from Pedagoo.
  • Shared secret. Type the copied Shared secret from Pedagoo.
  • Custom parameters. Type the resource_link_id=ID from the practice test.
  • Icon URL. Allows the icon that shows up in the course listing for this activity to be modified. Instead of using the default LTI icon, an icon that conveys the type of activity may be specified.
  • Secure icon URL. Like the icon URL but used if the user accessing Moodle securely through SSL.

PRIVACY. Set privacy options.

GRADE. Configure scoring options.

COMMON MODULE SETTINGS. Set the visibility and the ID number.

RESTRICT ACCESS. Configure access restriction options.

7) Click on Save and return to course.

 

LTI 1.3 integration

Configure the service in your Moodle.

1) Access to your Moodle with your Admin credentials.
2) Navigate to: Site Administration > Plugins > Activity Modules > Extenal Tool > Manage tools.
3) Click on the link to Configue a tool manually.

For the Pedagoo LTI Tools, please enter/select the following:
A) Tool Settings:
  • Tool Name: Pedagoo Tool
  • Tool URL: https://publicapi-stg1.pedagoo.com
  • LTI Version: LTI 1.3
  • Public key type: Keyset URL
  • Public keyset: https://publicapi.pedagoo.com/v1/lti1p3/jwks
  • Initiate login URL: https://publicapi.pedagoo.com/v1/lti1p3/auth
  • Redirection URI(s): https://publicapi.pedagoo.com/v1/lti1p3/launch
  • Custom parameters:
    • Tool configuration usage: Show as preconfigured tool when adding an external tool
    • Default launch container: Embed, without blocks
B) Services:
  • IMS LTI Assignment and Grade Services: Use this service for grade sync and column management
  • IMS LTI Names and Role Provisioning: Use this service to retrieve members’ information as per privacy settings
  • Tool Settings: Do not use this service
C) Privacy:
  • Share launcher's name with tool: Always
  • Share launcher's email with tool: Always
  • Accept grades from the tool: As specific in Deep Linking definition or Delegate to teacher
  • Leave Force SSL: unchecked


4) Click on Save Changes.

 

Add and activity or resource

On Moodle go to the course that you want to add the Tool to.

1) Click Turn editing on, then click Add an activity or resource.
2) Click External tool.
3) For Activity name, enter the name of the activity.
4) For Preconfigured tool, choose the Tool created earlier: Pedagoo LTI Tool.
5) Click on “show more” and type the resource_link_id=ID from the practice test.

Note. To get this ID:

1) Click on Tools > Partner Portal.
2) Click on Catalog.
3) Select the license and search for the Practice Test.
4) Hover your mouse pointer over the Practice Test box of the product you want to include in Moodle.
6) Click Save and return to course.
